Donating Books !!!

I just went to Fort Lee public library to donate my old computer books. I had about 15 very heavy books. When I reached at the library and asked the clerk that I would like to donate these books and what I heard was very shocking....the man at the counter told "We do not accept donations"...Who the hell in this time of hard economic would say we do not accept donations.... This is really bizarre... after few seconds the head clerk came and said okay we will accpet them for today with making some facial expressions.... WHY WOULDN'T YOU ACCEPT DONATIONS...Can someone please xplain me...Please share your thoughts....
